Here in Philly, people put chicken on pizza and it grosses me out. Lobster? No thanks.
Enemy, I could take lobster on pizza. Seasoned correctly, I could even image that escargot might taste pretty good. But I draw the line at caviar, which I absolutely hate.
It's not all that unusual for people to spend thousands of dollars for a meal in NY. Considering what it now takes to live in Manhattan, one could figure out that the residents have quite a bit of coin. Around here, there are a number of restaurants (Cafe Tobac, Masa, Essex House, etc.) where I could live off the price of dinner for months.
A lot of these places are frequented by celebrities. Perhaps it's worth it for them to go some place where the "average" schmo might never think to go, someplace where they could have some peace and quiet away from autograph seekers.
So, my guess is that some of them, those who have more dollars than sense, might see a $1,000 pizza as quite a bargain.
I usually go for the veggie pizzas...
X - that makes sense and I suppose I'd do the same thing if I were in their position and had their money.
