Headline: Rock Hall of Fame leaves rappers out of its new class

"Rap is the most important cultural phenomenon this country has ever exported," Russell Simmons, a trailblazing hip-hop business owner, said Monday. "I shudder to think that an institution like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can continue to exist and ignore hip-hop."
"It's blasphemous," added Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. "We can't afford to have another piece of black art history go undocumented."

That's why it's called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and not the Hip Hop Hall of Fame.

The thing that is blasphemous is the fact that the main reason Rap got huge in the first place was because of Aerosmith. How soon they forget. Rappers steal samples from rock songs and then gain popularity. Ex: Ice, Ice Baby - Queen, Funky Cold Medina - Foreigner. Even Michael Jackson rode that train when he was lucky enough to get Eddie Van Halen to play guitars for him on Beat It.

Although I will say, out of all of them Grand Master Flash would be the one to represent, but he'd be the only one. Until they get true talent and stop riding the coat tails of rockers they'll never be inducted into the Hall of Fame, unless they create their own like the Country music people had enough sense to do.

Apparently, their visions of dreams and passion aren't going to happen anytime soon.

yes - I saw the explanation and it was as stupid as his hair.

They do all sound the same but I doubt they'd be on MTV - they should change that name to "reality" TV, I haven't seen a video in ages, it seems. VH1 is just as bad.
