Vacation Destinations

Here are some words of wisdom about what to do when you’re in need of a vacation, yet you don’t have the time or the money to take one.

Vacation is a state of mind, right? So all you have to do is alter that state. Who needs a travel agent when all you need is right there in your local grocery store: Liquor.

Liquor can transport you to exotic places and fun-filled destinations without ever leaving your house. Accompanied by the appropriate music selection and possibly props, if you’re creative, you’ll be on your way to having that time off you’ve been craving without the subsequent credit card bills or stupid souvenirs.

The following are some of my favorite places to go and how to get there:

Hawaii - anything with an umbrella - Don Ho
Italy – Red wine – Luciano Pavarotti
Vegas – Bloody Mary – Elvis
California – Napa wines, Margarita - depending on North or South - Surfer music, Los Lonely Boys.
Seattle – Rainier beer – Nirvana
New York – Cosmopolitans or Long Island Iced Teas – Frank Sinatra or - if you’re insane - Broadway.
Colorado – Coors – any kind of rock music (hence, the Rockies)
Kentucky or Tennessee – Jack Daniels or Wild Turkey – Bluegrass or Country
Caribbean – Rum – Bob Marley
Detroit – beer – Bob Seger or Ted Nugent or Motown
Germany – dark beer – Scorpions
London – wine (because they don’t have ice) – 80’s

New Orleans – Hurricanes, Daiquiris, Mint Juleps – Jazz or Blues
Russia - Vodka - classical
Compton – Ludacris – a 40 or Cognac (I don’t know anyone who’d choose that destination, at least this way you won’t get shot)
Texas - Beer or Margaritas - ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn

So, there you have it. Feel free to create your own itinerary, enjoy your stay and I hope you have a great time wherever you decide to go!

I'm headed to central California right now.
